Dr. Smith works with teenagers 13 years old and up. Being a teen can be tough: friends, school, sports, activities, families - it can be very complicated and frustrating to balance it all.

Some of the issues Dr. Stephanie Smith can help teens manage, include:

  • Friendship and social stressors
  • Performance and achievement anxiety (athletics, the arts, academics)
  • Questions of identity (gender, sexuality)
  • Anxiety and panic attacks
  • ADHD and Executive Functioning
  • Autism Spectrum Disorders
  • Depression
  • Addiction (marijuana, vaping, alcohol)

Parent Communication:

At our first session we will discuss age-appropriate and clinically-indicated ways to keep parents updated about therapy with their minor teen. This may include providing email updates, brief phone check-ins or periodic parent-only meetings.

Sessions are 45 minutes in length

Coordination of Care/Consultation:

One the things I provide for current patients is coordination of their mental health care between multiple providers or agencies. For example, this might include working with primary care providers or psychiatrists to optimize psychological treatment through medication and therapy. This might also include working with teachers, school administrators and other care providers to ensure the best use of IEP’s and 504 plans. I also work collaboratively with substance abuse/chemical dependency programs to help folks successfully achieve and maintain sobriety.
